Neurofeedback for PTSD

Living with PTSD can feel overwhelming, affecting every aspect of daily life. At MindVista, we offer a transformative approach through Neurofeedback Therapy, specifically designed to help individuals manage and recover from PTSD. This non-invasive treatment focuses on retraining the brain’s responses to stress, providing a pathway to emotional healing. Neurofeedback is a powerful tool that uses real-time feedback on brain activity to promote healthier brain function. During a session, you will be comfortably seated while sensors are placed on your scalp to measure your brainwave patterns.

By identifying and regulating specific brainwave patterns associated with PTSD, our sessions empower individuals to develop resilience against anxiety, flashbacks, and intrusive thoughts. This personalized approach allows you to better control your emotions and reactions, creating a sense of safety and calm.

How Does Neurofeedback Work?

Initial Assessment

In our first meeting, we’ll learn more about you, your history, and your goals. This is also a great time to ask any questions you might have! The session typically lasts 30-60 minutes.

Transformative Approach - MindVista
Quantitative ElectroEncephaloGram (QEEG)

A QEEG brain scan is a simple, non-invasive test that measures the electrical activity in your brain. This helps us tailor the best neurofeedback or biofeedback approach for you. The scan takes about one hour and is not used for diagnosis.

Feedback and Summary of Findings

Once the QEEG data is analyzed, we’ll meet with you again to discuss the results. We’ll explain how neurofeedback or biofeedback can help you reach your goals and answer any further questions you have. This session takes around 30-45 minutes, and we’ll provide a written summary of the findings along with our recommended training plan.

Personalized Treatment Plans - MindVista
Neurofeedback Training

Neurofeedback sessions are held 1-3 times per week at our clinic, with most clients noticing positive changes after 20-40 sessions. Over the course of these sessions, a consistent feedback mechanism helps your brain learn to produce the desired brainwave patterns more reliably. Gradually, these changes help you better manage your emotions, behaviors, and mental performance, leading to a more balanced and effective daily life.

Benefits of Neurofeedback for PTSD

Reduces Hyperarousal Icon
Supports Hyperarousal and Anxiety Management

Neurofeedback helps regulate the brain’s overactive stress response, which is often heightened in individuals with PTSD. By promoting calm and balanced brainwave activity, it can help manage hypervigilance, anxiety, and panic, leading to a more relaxed state of mind.

Improves Emotional Regulation Icon
Promotes Emotional Regulation

Neurofeedback retrains the brain to manage emotional responses more effectively, helping individuals with PTSD gain better control over intense emotions. This can lead to fewer emotional outbursts, reduced anger, and a more balanced emotional state.

Trauma Processing Icon
Supports Trauma Processing

Neurofeedback can regulate brain waves, which helps individuals with PTSD process traumatic memories more effectively. This leads to better overall clarity and the ability to manage and process trauma without being overwhelmed by it.
